School Sport Guidelines - Somerset Consolidated
Age/Grade Eligibility
Eligibility varies depending on the sport:
- Cross Country: Grades 3–8
- Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball & Flag Football: Primarily Grades 7–8. If additional players are needed, Grade 6 students may sometimes be invited to participate.
- Track & Field: Grades 5–8
- Grade 9 Students: At KRHS, some Grade 9 students may participate, and students from ACC may also participate in certain circumstances.
Playing for Another School
If our school does not offer a particular sport, or does not have enough students to form a team, athletes may apply to participate with another school. Students would still need to meet the eligibility requirements and successfully try out for that team.
Participation in Multiple Sports
Students may participate in one major sport and one minor sport during the same season. Due to scheduling, commitment, and potential overlap, students cannot participate in two major sports at the same time.
Attendance & Game Participation
Students must attend school in order to participate in a game or competition that day.
- If a student is absent due to illness, they will not be eligible to participate that day.
- Students who have an excused absence (i.e doctor’s appt) may be permitted to participate.
- Individual circumstances may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
These guidelines are intended to support fair participation while also recognizing the importance of academics, attendance, commitment, and student well-being.
Uniforms
Uniforms will be provided to each player before the first game. Players will be assigned a number. Players will be responsible for their jersey for the season. When the season is over coaches will collect all uniforms. Players who do not hand in their uniform (lost or damaged) will be required to pay the school a $25 replacement fee.
Sports Fees
School team members will be charged an athletic fee to help offset the following associated costs: jerseys, refs/umpires/officials, awards, facility use, green fees, and PEISAA registration. The athletic fee per sport is not due until a student successfully makes a team. Student athletes are asked to pay a maximum $100 per year.
Athletic fees can be sent to the staff or an etransfer to the school
